Dipl.-Ing. Wulf Schröder, retired president of Hessisches Landesamt für Bodenmanagement und Geoinformation (land surveying office of Hesse)

Wulf Schröder, born in Pyritz/Pomerania on 9 October 1942, came to Western Germany as refugee in 1945, he attended the primary school and high school in Gießen which he completed with the Abitur in 1962. Then, from 1962 to 1964, he did his military service. Afterwards he completed an internship with the land registry office in Gießen and studied surveying at TH Darmstadt (1964 - 1968). From late 1968 to January 1973 he worked as a scientific assistant at the Photogrammetry and Cartography department of TH Darmstadt. The two-year preparation period for the higher technical public service with the land registry and surveying authorities of Hesse he did from 01/02/1973 to 6/2/1975. In the following he was permanent representative of the directors of the land registry offices of Hanau and Gelnhausen and department head (Electronic Data Processing) with the Hessisches Landesvermessungsamt (land registry office of Hesse). From March 1979 to January 1982 he was head of the department Technology, Development and Data Processing with Hessisches Landesvermessungsamt. Then he was first head of the group Land Registry and Surveying and then head of the department for general questions on professional law in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Technology of Hesse, later (from June 1990) deputy head of the department Road Construction, Surveying, Land Consolidation and head of the department General Questions Surveying in the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transportation, Urban and Regional Development. From 1 June 2001 to 31 October 2007 he was president of the Hessisches Landesamt für Bodenmanagement und Geoinformation.

From 1977 to 1992 he was member of the study group Professional Practice, Organisation and Legal Basis of Deutscher Verein für Vermessungswesen e.V. (DVW, German association for land survey). From 1980 to 1982 he was lecturer for infinitesimal calculus at Fachhochschule Frankfurt a. M., University of Applied Sciences.

From 1982 he was examiner in the department Surveying and Real-estate Management of the Oberprüfungsamt für die höheren technischen Verwaltungsbeamten (examination authorities for higher technical servants), fom 1998 he was deputy head of department and from 2003 department head.

He was chair of the Working Committee of the Surveying Authorities of the States of the Federal Republic of Germany (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Vermessungsverwaltungen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, AdV) from 1984 to 1988.
